Love Killers (Week 5)

This week at Life 180....

We're talking about lying and deception.

The heart is deceitful above all things.

That means that the heart deceives you too.

How does deception work in marriage?

You don't start by lying to your spouse.

You start by lying to yourself.

It's a problem because Jesus says whoever can be trusted with little, can be trusted with much, but if you're dishonest with little, you'll be dishonest with much. And that's the problem with dishonesty - it doesn't stay small.

We're going to look at kind of four different ways people are dishonest: there's the half truth, there's the omission, there's the reframe and the double life. And so people will see themselves in all those.

We are dishonest emotionally, financially, relationally, sexually.

You can see those will all hit hard.

The answer is found in grace and truth.

Some people have all grace, no truth.

Others have truth, no grace.

And so I'll drive that in.

Truth without grace destroys, grace without truth enables.

Paul says speak the truth in love.

So it's equipping people how to do it.

We're going to talk about confession, confess to God for forgiveness, and to each other for healing ultimately in your marriage. And this is where we're going to drive it home as you'll only be as close as you both are honest.
